Vucic: Dialogue maintained on daily basis, I will make decisions in case of attack
BAKU - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday evening he maintained dialogue with Pristina's political representatives and the international community on a daily basis.
"What do you expect me to say? That we will fire howitzers from Base South? Of course we will talk, it is better to talk for a thousand years than fight a war for a day, until they (Pristina) attack. If they do attack, I will make decisions as commander-in-chief in line with the interests of our people," Vucic told Pink TV when asked about further steps towards calming the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.
The situation is difficult for Serbia and, evidently, some people believe now is the right time to fully pressure Serbia because they do not like the situation in Ukraine, Vucic said.
It is no longer a hundred per cent certain the side they support will win so easily - therefore, it is important to end the Kosovo problem so that Russian President Vladimir Putin can no longer invoke the Kosovo precedent, Vucic said.
He said Putin had done that several times already and that French and US Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Joe Biden had confirmed that to him in an unambiguous manner.
"He told them: 'In the way you have created the Kosovo precedent, I will now do the same with various parts of Ukraine's territory,'" Vucic added.
