Brnabic: New era ahead for development of Serbia-Korea economic, political ties

BELGRADE- Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Monday a new era was ahead for development of economic and political relations between Serbia and South Korea.

Opening a regional conference hosted by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Brnabic noted that she had recently paid a very successful visit to South Korea during which she had met with the country's PM and executives of various companies.

An agreement on mutual promotion and protection of investments was also signed during the visit and discussions about an economic partnership began as well, she added.

"I hope that by the end of the year we will succeed in signing an agreement with another Korean company about its potential investment in Serbia. All of that is important for starting a new era in political and economic relations between Korea and Serbia," Brnabic said.

She added that Serbia was already seeing concrete benefits from a knowledge exchange programme with South Korea.

"Thanks to the exchange of knowledge with Korea, Serbia boasts as many as two Serbian-Korean information centres - one in Belgrade and one in Nis, and we are the only country in the region that has two centres," she said.

She announced South Korea's support would focus on Serbia's future development - on AI and biotechnology.
