Statement of witness of Banjska killing of Serb aired on Serbian TV

BELGRADE - An audio recording of a statement of a witness of last Sunday's killing of Serb Bojan Mijailovic in the Banjska village in the north of Kosovo-Metohija was aired on Serbia's Pink TV on Sunday evening.

"On September 24, I happened to be in Banjska, where I met a group of our people wearing uniforms. I approached them and asked if they needed any help. I did not know what things were about, I said I knew the terrain and asked: 'Do you need any help?' So, as I was talking to them, the 'Kosovo Police' suddenly started shooting at us. They were shooting at us from everywhere, I had no idea what was going on. I thought no one would get out of there alive, I mean, they were shooting from all sorts of things. And I said: 'I know this road and you can get away that way.' I started running and Bojan Mijailovic went after me. As we ran through the woods along the road, a group of Kosovo police officers chased us, shooting at us without any warning... We were without guns and without anything, and after a few more meters, they hit both him and me," the witness said in the recording, aired during a political talk show.

"He fell down on the road and could no longer run, and I jumped under the road to hide a little and so, when I got up to see what the situation was, I saw him being approached by a group of police officers, who shot him from a close range of about two meters. I stayed where I was for a few more seconds, I realised my life was in danger and I started running, they spotted me again and continued to shoot at me... Knowing the roads, I managed to get to a creek, but I really do not know what happened next," the witness said.
