Drecun: Developments in Kosovo-Metohija depend on results of Banjska probe
BELGRADE - The head of the Serbian parliamentary committee on Kosovo-Metohija Milovan Drecun said on Wednesday developments in the province depended on the outcome of an investigation of the recent clashes in Banjska and on whose version of events was accepted.
If the results of the investigation being carried out by Belgrade are accepted, there will be a calming of the situation, Drecun told the RTS.
"Pristina is trying to use the situation against Belgrade and pointing out that no one is talking about elections in the north (of Kosovo-Metohija) or a Community of Serb Municipalities now," he said.
He noted that Belgrade's investigation had revealed that weapons obtained by Milan Radoicic had come from outside of Serbia through illegal, arms smuggling channels.
"If the results of the investigation are accepted and if it turns out that Serbia was not involved in all that, that will be a very good step as far as we are concerned," Drecun said.
He noted that some US officials were involved in Pristina's investigation of the incident and that Pristina would try to use the situation against Belgrade and Srpska lista.
"They are now preparing a fabrication of alleged evidence, which shows that they want to get to (Serbian President Aleksandar) Vucic and Serbia through Radoicic, as they have accused President Vucic, Defence Minister (Milos) Vucevic and the border police chief of being responsible. On the other hand, they want to eliminate political activities by Srpska lista and break its political unity," Drecun said.
