BELGRADE - Post of Serbia and the Slovak embassy in Belgrade on Tuesday unveiled commemorative postage stamps marking 30 years of Serbia-Slovakia diplomatic relations.

"Every year, Post of Serbia and the MFA together make a plan what to commemorate and with which countries. Definitely, the 30 years of rich bilateral relations with Slovakia are an occasion to release special postage stamps," Post of Serbia Acting Director Zoran Djordjevic said.

"There are good and rich relations both in the defence sector and work in postal traffic," said Djordjevic, who has previously also served as Serbia's defence minister.

Slovakia wants to help us on the path to the EU, he said, adding that Post of Serbia had wanted to commemorate the anniversary in an adequate manner.

Slovak Ambassador Fedor Rosocha said he was pleased with the celebration of the important diplomatic anniversary.

"Bilateral relations between Serbia and Slovakia officially began on January 1, 1993. In the past 30 years, we have established many significant partnerships and laid a firm foundation for further advancement of the friendship between our two peoples," Rosocha said.

"This is just the beginning. There are plans to design another postage stamp with motifs from the works of Kovacica painter Martin Jonas, who, to a large extent, contributed to the development of the painting art of Vojvodina Slovaks and the spread of its popularity," Rosocha said.Service Photo Gallery
