Dacic condemns Vucic effigy burning incident in Croatia, protest note filed
BELGRADE - Serbian FM Ivica Dacic has condemned in the strongest terms an incident in which an effigy of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was burned during a festivity in Kastel Stari, Croatia, and said a note of protest had been filed with the Croatian embassy in Belgrade.
In a statement on Wednesday, Dacic said the incident was an absolutely unacceptable act that was completely contrary to a jointly expressed commitment to full normalisation of relations and advancement of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
"I condemn in the strongest terms the incident that occurred on February 13, 2024, during a traditional carnival procession in Kastel Stari in the Republic of Croatia. This scandalous act of spreading hatred sends a message that in no way contributes to strengthening of good-neighbourly relations, peace and stability in the region, and directly and seriously erodes the relations between the two countries," the minister's statement said.
