Stano: EU, US positions on Pristina's behaviour converge almost hundred percent
BRUSSELS - European Commission spokesperson Peter Stano said on Wednesday that, in general, EU and US positions on Pristina and its officials converged almost a hundred percent.
Stano was speaking at a Brussels press briefing.
Asked to comment on a statement by US Western Balkans special envoy Gabriel Escobar that the EU and the US had a communication problem with Pristina's PM Albin Kurti and also objected to the failure to establish a Community of Serb Municipalities in Kosovo-Metohija, Stano responded:
“We are not commenting on individual remarks. Our partners assess the situation as they see fit. I can only say in general that, when it comes to Kosovo and the behavior of the current administration in Pristina, our views with our American partners converge almost one hundred percent," Stano said.
Asked whether he could confirm an announcement by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic that the EU special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Miroslav Lajcak would visit Belgrade on Thursday, Stano said the EU did not comment on Lajcak's working schedule.
"He travels constantly in the region, within the EU and internationally to conduct his job that is a part of the mandate he has as the EU special representative for Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, and of course, a part of his job and a part of his mandate is also to be regularly in both Belgrade and Pristina to have meetings with his interlocutors," Stano said.
