WASHINGTON - The US State Department believes the EU-facilitated dialogue is the proper channel for resolving issues related to normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina relations and that discussions about the Serbian dinar should continue with urgency, says principal deputy spokesperson for the US State Department Vedant Patel.

At Tuesday's press briefing, Patel welcomed EU special envoy Miroslav Lajcak's discussions with Belgrade and Pristina delegations in Brussels earlier in the day.

He reiterated Washington's concerns about the "new regulation that restricts the import and use of the Serbian dinar in Kosovo."

"We’ve also reiterated our call to both Kosovo and Serbia to deescalate tensions," he said, noting that the US believed that discussions "should continue with urgency."
