BELGRADE - The Serbian parliament on Wednesday elected Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) deputy leader and now-former Serbian PM Ana Brnabic as its new speaker.
One hundred and fifty-three of 158 MPs in attendance voted in favour and five voted against.
Brnabic's election was backed by the Aleksandar Vucic - Serbia Must Not Stop electoral list, the Ivica Dacic - PM of Serbia list, the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians and national minority parties.
MPs of the Serbia Against Violence and the Hope for Serbia coalitions were not present during the vote, while We, A Voice From The People - Branimir Nestorovic and We, A Voice From The People MPs were either against or not present.
Sandra Bozic (SNS), Marina Ragus (SNS) Edin Djerlek (Justice and Reconciliation Party), Jovan Janjic (We, A Voice From The People - Branimir Nestorovic), Elvira Kovac (Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians) and Snezana Paunovic (Socialist Party of Serbia) were elected deputy speakers.
