BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Wednesday she extremely regretted the fact no agreement had been reached with opposition parties at a Collegium meeting on implementation of ODIHR recommendations and electoral conditions for the upcoming local polls in Belgrade and several municipalities in Serbia after the opposition had refused to even consider an alternative proposal she had made.
"Opposition representatives gathered around the Serbia Against Violence coalition did not want to consider the alternative proposal. I did not come here to say no but, since Monday, I had been thinking about what to offer them to be accommodating and help reach a compromise. Compromise is the key word," Brnabic told reporters in the parliament.
She added that, unfortunately, the opposition had reiterated an ultimatum.
"I do not think it is good to talk in a language of ultimatums, especially in politics, and I hope they will reconsider what we offered them," she said.
Brnabic said she was particularly worried by the fact Serbia Against Violence representatives had explicitly refused to cooperate on further implementation of ODIHR recommendations.
"My door remains open - that is how I concluded today's meeting," she said.
