BELGRADE - In a discussion with the German MFA's envoy Michael Reiffenstuel in Belgrade, Serbian Deputy PM and Defence Minister Milos Vucevic said Serbia wanted the sponsors of a draft UN General Assembly resolution on Srebrenica to withdraw the document to "contribute to reconciliation in the region."

Vucevic said tabling a Srebrenica resolution would deepen divisions within Bosnia and Herzegovina itself as there was no consensus on that "very sensitive issue," the MoD said in a statement.

Vucevic said Serbia had publicly condemned the Srebrenica crime.

He also noted that the vote for the so-called Kosovo's Council of Europe membership represented a dangerous precedent and violated the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia as a full UN and CoE member state.

The parties noted that European integration of the region and de-escalation and stabilisation of the security situation were a joint interest.

Vucevic said Serbia-Germany relations were developed and characterised by intensive cooperation in many fields.

Serbia especially appreciates Germany as a very significant economic partner, he said.

Reiffenstuel agreed that bilateral cooperation was stable and said he expected it to be advanced further in the future.

He also noted Serbia was a very significant partner to Germany in the Western Balkans.

The parties said German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius's visit to Serbia in February had been successful.
