Vucic, African ambassadors discuss Srebrenica resolution
BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Monday he had hosted a lunch for ambassadors of African states to discuss a UN draft Srebrenica resolution and a renewal of Serbia's old friendships with African countries.
"(A discussion) About Serbia's positions regarding the 'International Day of Reflection and Remembrance of the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide' with traditionally friendly countries on the African continent. I noted that adopting this resolution would lead to drastic deterioration of the relations between countries in our region, as well as that this kind of precedent would lead to a chain reaction at global level that would spark new conflicts and flashpoints with far-reaching consequences," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.
He added that the discussion had also addressed the results achieved to date in the process of renewing old friendships with African countries, whose foundations he said were firmly based on the principles of mutual respect and deep understanding.
"The topics also included economic relations and stepping up high- and top-level visits, which would, at the same time, bolster joint activities in the global political arena aimed at promoting a freedom-loving spirit and justice in international politics, which Serbia and African countries have always advocated," Vucic noted.
