Gojkovic takes over as head of Vojvodina provincial gov't

NOVI SAD - The newly-elected head of the government of Serbia's Vojvodina province, Maja Gojkovic, took over from her predecessor Igor Mirovic in Novi Sad on Thursday.

After being elected by the provincial assembly on Wednesday, Gojkovic said her cabinet would continue to carry out development projects and that there were plans for new capital investments.

She said the focus would also be on boosting transport and utility infrastructure, environmental protection, education and culture, social protection and improvement of the position of sensitive groups.

Gojkovic's cabinet also held its first session on Thursday, an official statement said.
