BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received UAE Defence Minister Mohammed Fadel Al Mazrouei in Belgrade on Friday to inform him of the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and developments in the Western Balkan region and discuss boosting military cooperation.
At the same time, Vucic expressed Serbia's commitment to "continue to work with friends and partners to resolve the challenges and threats to regional and international peace and security."
In a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account, Vucic noted that the discussion with Al Mazrouei had addressed the complex geopolitical circumstances and global security challenges as well as strengthening of Serbia-UAE cooperation in military technology.
"I noted a need for continued cooperation and coordination also in fields such as the fight against terrorism, cyber security and regional stability, especially in view of the generally increasingly complex global situation. One of the discussion topics were also ways to make more concrete the plans touched upon last year during the international IDEX 2023 fair, as well as numerous types of arms that are produced by the Serbian military industry and that the Emirates have shown interest in," Vucic said.
He noted that Serbia attached special significance to its partnership and friendly ties with the UAE and thanked Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed for his personal contribution to the unbreakable bilateral and economic ties.
"I asked Minister Al Mazrouei to convey my heartfelt greetings to the Sheikh, with an always open invitation to him to visit Serbia again," Vucic wrote in the post.
