BELGRADE - "I am going to New York to fight, with all my strength and all my heart, for the future of our country," Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday morning after attending a religious service led by Serbian Patriarch Porfirije at the Church of St Sava in central Belgrade.
During the visit to New York, Vucic will attend a May 23 UN General Assembly meeting on a Srebrenica resolution.
Vucic said he had asked for the patriarch's blessing ahead of the trip and prayed to God at the church.
"Those who are against us are mighty, but Serbia is the most sacred to us. There are so many lies, but the truth is only one and eternal. Our tricolour flag will fly proudly in New York and, under it, all freedom-loving countries, all nations fighting for dignity and justice - which has been made pointless and humiliated for a long time - will find new energy in their efforts for a more just world. Long live Serbia!" Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.
