Djuric hopes Serbia will boost cooperation with US
BELGRADE - Serbian FM Marko Djuric said at the Pupin Forum in Belgrade on Friday he hoped Serbia would succeed in boosting its cooperation with the US in all fields, and added that Serbia-US relations, which he noted were almost as old as the internationally recognised statehood of modern Serbia, deserved great attention, effort and vigour.
"I believe that strengthening the Serbia-US relations is not only possible but is also a necessity if we want to see more efficient work on fully integrating Serbia into the broader European structures," Djuric said in a discussion with Pupin Initiative Executive Director Vuk Velebit.
He said boosting the cooperation with the US was also important for continuing Serbia's dynamic economic growth, noting that the US was the country's number one partner in the services sector.
Djuric said security cooperation had long been a pillar of Serbia-US relations and noted that 2024 marked 16 years of cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and the Ohio National Guard.
Commenting on the upcoming US presidential elections, Djuric said Serbia had "no side to cheer for."
"We will be prepared to cooperate with any administration chosen by the American people," he added.
