Brnabic meets with German ambassador to Belgrade

BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic met with German Ambassador to Belgrade Anke Konrad on Wednesday, noting that the partnership with Germany was extremely important and that Serbia was committed to further advance bilateral cooperation.

Brnabic said she was confident her upcoming visit to Berlin would provide a useful incentive for advancement of economic cooperation, strengthening of parliamentary and political dialogue and support for Serbia on its European integration path, an official statement said.

She said Serbia-Germany relations were highly developed in the economic sphere and that there was ample space and potential for shaping that cooperation, especially when it comes to boosting German investments.

Konrad commended the results achieved in the economy and rule of law and noted that they were crucial for progress on the European integration path.

She also praised Serbia's efforts in implementation of ODIHR recommendations, highlighting Brnabic's personal engagement and the significance of implementing the recommendations in the coming period.

The parties noted that Germany was Serbia's top external trade partner and said this was very important for the Serbian economy.

At the end of the meeting, they also confirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties and advance the cooperation between Serbia and Germany in the coming period.

Earlier, Konrad also met with Serbian FM Marko Djuric.

They discussed the continuity of bilateral cooperation and strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries, the Serbian MFA said.
