Vucic: Decision on Tirana summit to be made at weekend
BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi and PM Ana Brnabic had told him he should attend an upcoming EU-Western Balkans summit in Tirana.
Vucic was speaking at a press conference with Varhelyi.
"Today, Varhelyi, as a proven friend of Serbia, said: 'You must attend and say in front of everyone what you have got to say.' I said I have already said everything," explained Vucic, who had announced on Thursday evening he would not be going to Tirana.
He said he had spoken with Brnabic and that she, too, believed he should attend the summit. "
I have gone to every summit and dialogue. I have gone everywhere in good faith and with the intent of preserving peace, and I have listened to the worst kind of lies and nonsense. I do not see much sense (in going to Tirana) but I am ready because Oliver and many others want to see Serbia in the EU."
He noted that Brnabic and his aides had told him he should go to Tirana and fight. "I have not made a decision yet. I will decide at the weekend," Vucic said, adding that he would be criticised whatever he did.
