BELGRADE - Serbian PM Milos Vucevic spoke with Argentine Ambassador to Belgrade Osvaldo Narciso Marsico on Friday, thanking him for his country's support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and the firm position of not recognising the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo.

Vucevic said he was concerned over the situation in Kosovo-Metohija and that Pristina needed to be put under international pressure to continue the dialogue with Belgrade and stop the terror against the Serbs, the Serbian government said in a statement.

He thanked Argentina for abstaining in a UN General Assembly vote on a Srebrenica resolution and said the resolution would not help stabilise the situation in the region or improve the relations between the Serbs and Bosniaks.

Vucevic and the ambassador also discussed advancement of bilateral relations, stepping up of political dialogue and strengthening of economic cooperation.

The PM said Serbia was interested in strengthening political dialogue at all levels and noted that Argentina was an extremely important partner of Serbia in the Latin American region.

Vucevic said Serbia was interested in further strengthening of economic cooperation and added that the agriculture and agro-industry sectors held great and untapped potential.

Marsico confirmed that Serbia could count on further active support from Argentina in international organisations and in accordance with international law, the statement also said.

He noted that Serbia and Argentina maintained an excellent dynamic of bilateral relations, based on many years of friendship and mutual understanding.
