Dacic lifts red terrorism alert
BELGRADE - Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic decided on Friday to lift a red terrorism alert following a decline of the level of security challenges, risks and threat of terrorist acts.
The measures ordered in accordance with the red terrorism alert will cease to apply as of Friday 7 pm, and a transition will be made to the yellow alert, a moderate level of terrorism threat, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
Accordingly, police will carry out heightened precautionary and vigilance measures to protect facilities that are vital for Serbia, crucial infrastructure facilities, shopping centres, cinemas, public buildings and places of mass gatherings.
The red security alert was declared last Saturday after a Serbian gendarme was attacked outside the Israeli embassy in Belgrade.
