Djuric, Tenney discuss development of Serbia-US ties

WASHINGTON  - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with US Congresswoman Claudia Tenney on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington.

Djuric informed Tenney, who co-chairs the Serbian caucus in the US House of Representatives, of Serbia's foreign policy priorities for the coming period and noted that, among other objectives, the policy would focus on continuing to build quality political and economic relations with the US.

He said he hoped the US administration would continue to see Serbia as a constructive and credible partner and that the members of the Serbian caucus would be a guarantee of creating an objective image of a modern Serbia and its successes, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.

Djuric said Serbia would continue to have a key role in preserving peace and stability in the Western Balkans and noted that stability was a prerequisite for continued societal and economic development of Serbia, which he said also had the capacity to become an engine of development in the entire region.

Informing Tenney of the latest economic indicators and the fact Serbia achieved the highest economic growth rate in Europe in Q1 2024, Djuric said he hoped that, through investments and other forms of economic cooperation, the US would continue to have a major role in Serbia's development plans.
