Girl wounded in Belgrade school shooting dies in hospital

BELGRADE - A girl who sustained severe, life-threatening head wounds in a May 3 shooting in a school in downtown Belgrade died in the University Children's Hospital this morning, the Serbian Ministry of Health said.

In a statement, it said the patient had died despite undergoing emergency surgery and receiving intensive medical care.

On behalf of the Ministry of Health and on her own behalf, Minister Danica Grujicic extended sincere condolences to the girl's family.

The death toll of the shooting at the Vladislav Ribnikar Primary School has thus risen to ten.

Eight pupils and a security guard were killed on the spot and seven other people were wounded in the attack committed by a 13-year-old boy identified with the initials K K.
