Serbia crushed by USA at Abu Dhabi basketball tournament
ABU DHABI - The Serbia men's national basketball team suffered a 105-79 defeat to the USA on Wednesday evening in its second game at a pre-Olympic tournament in Abu Dhabi.
Steph Curry led the scoring for the USA with 24 points.
The Serbia team was without captain Bogdan Bogdanovic and Nikola Milutinov.
Serbia got off to an excellent start to the first quarter and held a lead throughout most of it, but the teams were tied at 28-28 after the first ten minutes of play.
The USA team upped its game in the second and third quarters and had a 30-point lead (99-69) at one point in the last quarter.
Previously, Serbia lost 84-73 to Australia, which suffered a 98-92 defeat to the USA.
Serbia will next host Japan and Greece in Belgrade on July 21 and 22.
The game against Greece will be the Eagles' last test before the Olympic tournament in France.
Serbia will face the USA, Puerto Rico and South Sudan in Lille in Group C of the tournament.
