Djokovic loses to Berrettini in Doha first round

DOHA - Serbia's top-ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic is out of the men's singles event at the Doha ATP tournament after a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 first round defeat to Italian Matteo Berrettini on Tuesday evening.

Djokovic is now 4-1 head-to-head against Berrettini, who will next face Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor.

Defying a thigh injury, Serbia's Hamad Medjedovic defeated Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6 (8-6), 5-7, 7-6 (7-5) in the opening round of the tournament.

Medjedovic will next play Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime.

The prize money at the ATP 500 event in Doha is 2.76 mln dollars.
