Stojkovic: We have brains, quality and motivation to beat Bulgaria
STARA PAZOVA - The head coach of the Serbia men's national football team Dragan Stojkovic said on Monday his team had sufficient brains, quality and motivation to defeat Bulgaria in a EURO 2024 qualifying game.
At a press conference in Stara Pazova, Stojkovic said Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Darko Lazovic would miss the upcoming matches against Belgium and Bulgaria due to injuries.
"Lazovic has problems with a hamstring injury and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic with a knee ligament. Mijat Gacinovic will not be playing for the same reason, but he was not included in the squad list. Srdjan Babic will not be coming to the preparations due to a throat inflammation but will join us on Wednesday if he gets better. We have sufficient brains, quality and motivation to defeat Bulgaria," he said.
Serbia face Belgium away in a friendly on November 15 and host Bulgaria in the last EURO 2024 qualifier in Leskovac on November 19.
Serbia need just a point to secure a EURO 2024 berth but will already qualify if Montenegro fail to beat Lithuania on November 16.
Hungary are on top of the qualifying Group G table with 14 points, Serbia are in second place with 13, Montenegro are in third place with eight points and Lithuania in fourth place with six points, and Bulgaria are at the bottom of the table with two points.
