BELGRADE - Serbian football giants Red Star Belgrade re-appointed Vladan Milojevic as head coach on Friday.

Milojevic succeeds Israeli coach Barak Bakhar.

"When I was leaving (after the first stint as Red Star head coach), I knew it was only temporary. The call (to return to the club) came and there was no thinking. You know me well, I am someone who believes in work and it is unrewarding to make promises, but I will do what is up to me and my team to ensure we continue on the path we set out on a few years ago," Milojevic told reporters at his unveiling after signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club.

"At the age of 16, I came to Red Star from a small town (Arandjelovac, central Serbia). Red Star have given a lot to me, they mean a lot to me and my family. I left after good results, but I always said Red Star can count on me and always have that one man it can call," he said.

Red Star is on a good path, the public is accustomed to a highly competitive level and the club has done some impressive things in recent years but continuity must be maintained, Milojevic added.

"There are things we will try to retain. We must not say Bakhar was not doing the right thing - the young players who got a chance in the Champions League are a great benefit and that is where the potential lies, we need to keep giving them a chance," Milojevic said.Service Photo Gallery
