Djokovic to play at Wimbledon, face Czech Kopriva in opening round
LONDON - Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic will definitely be competing at this year's Wimbledon and was on Friday drawn to play Czech Vit Kopriva in the opening round.
A clash between Djokovic and reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz of Spain, who defeated the Serbian in last season's match for the title, is not possible before a potential new final.
Djokovic had an excellent draw as Italian Jannik Sinner and Russian Daniil Medvedev are both on the opposite side of the draw and also cannot face the seven-time Wimbledon champion before the final.
If he defeats world number 111 Kopriva, Djokovic will take on the winner of the tie between Briton Jacob Fearnley and Spaniard Alejandro Moro Canas.
If he comes away victorious, Djokovic will most likely face Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the third round.
In the fourth round, the Serbian could potentially face Dane Holger Rune and then play Pole Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals and German Alexander Zverev or Russian Andrey Rublev in the semi-finals.
Serbian Dusan Lajovic will face Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the opening round.
His compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic will face Indian Sumit Nagal in the first round.
If he wins, Kecmanovic will most likely play Tallon Griekspoor in the second round.
Serbia's Laslo Djere will take on Frenchman Lucas Pouille in the first round.
