BELGRADE - Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) President Susumu Kataoka said in Belgrade on Thursday he hoped Serbia would soon receive another investment from Japan and noted that, amid global geopolitical tensions, Japanese companies saw Serbia as a country with a strategic position.
Speaking at a Serbia-Japan business forum in the Palace of Serbia, Kataoka said the event was attended by representatives of 74 Japanese companies from various sectors, including the IT equipment sector, infrastructure, construction and finance.
He said there was great interest among Japanese companies in investing in Serbia.
He also said he hoped a visit by a Japanese business delegation would soon produce results in the form of new Japanese investments in Serbia.
He noted that the number of Japanese investments in Serbia - including by companies such as NIDEC, NTD Data, Nikon Express and Toyota - had grown noticeably in recent years.
Kataoka said Serbia's advantages included an exceptional IT sector, a developed startup ecosystem, human talent and low labour costs.
