BELGRADE - Air Serbia is registering record-high results and it is one of the strongest regional airlines in this part of Europe, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic said on Thursday, noting that Air Serbia would this year repay 20 mln euros received from the state coffers under a capital increase arrangement.
In a post he published on social media networks, Vesic said Air Serbia had achieved record-high results across several parameters in the first six months of this year.
In the first two quarters of this year alone, Air Serbia carried around 1.7 mln passengers, which is an 87 pct increase y-o-y and a 59 pct increase relative to the record pre-pandemic year of 2019, Vesic added.
Air Serbia's share in the number of passengers at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport in the period was around 50 pct and reached 55 pct in June alone, Vesic said.
In the same period, Air Serbia operated a total of 19,181 flights - 63 pct more relative to the same period of last year and 39 pct more compared to the first six months of 2019, he said.
