BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic met on Friday with NIS CEO Kirill Tyurdenev, who said the company would ensure sufficient quantities of oil and oil derivatives to the Serbian market in the period to come.
Our objective is that Serbia and its citizens, as co-owners of NIS, maximise the benefits arising from its excellent results, Djedovic said at the meeting, also attended by Finance Minister Sinisa Mali.
"That is why we continue to monitor the changes taking place in Europe and worldwide - above all, those resulting from the announced sanctions on Russian oil and oil derivatives. Our urgent task is to find the most efficient and the safest way of ensuring the largest possible reserves of oil and oil derivatives, in which open dialogue with NIS representatives is of great significance," Djedovic said.
According to a statement released by her ministry, Djedovic said she was pleased with NIS's record-high business results especially as Serbia owned a 29.87 pct stake in the company.
Tyurdenev said NIS understood all challenges and priorities for the energy sector and would always support efforts towards ensuring energy security to Serbia.
"NIS is providing sufficient oil quantities to the Pancevo oil refinery, which is operating at full capacity, and will ensure enough oil and oil derivatives to the local market in the period to come. We will continue investments that will help energy security and development of green energy projects," Tyurdenev said.
