BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic says Serbia's further progress calls for in-depth, substantial changes in all spheres of life.
A new objective must be found, something we all must agree on, Vucic told Pink TV on Sunday.
"EXPO 2027 is our objective that must boost and develop the country so that someone can define our goals more easily in the future. We must find our own angle that will not jeopardise neither our European future nor our friendships with China and Russia, and we must keep developing our country," Vucic said.
He announced that, around January 20, he would unveil complete plans and programmes for the next three years.
"We must finish everything by December 1, 2026. We must carry out in-depth, substantial changes in all spheres of life. In three years' time, we will not be able to recognise many cities. Arranging the surroundings of EXPO alone will be a 1.7 bln euro investment," Vucic said, adding that this included construction of residential units, railway infrastructure and other infrastructure.
We will have greater investments and we are now looking for a way to be able to invest around 2 bln euros in the most important projects without increasing the debt-to-GDP ratio, he also said.
