BELGRADE - Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on Tuesday Serbia was fully committed to development of renewable energy sources, green transition and investments in the sector.
Mali said Serbia would this year launch a project to build self-balanced solar power plants with a capacity of 1 GW and battery systems for storage of electricity, and noted that it would be the biggest investment in renewables in Europe.
"The world's best companies, financial institutions and export credit agencies including US-based Exim, MIGA and the Swedish Export Credit Corporation, are involved in this project," Mali said after a meeting with project financiers, also attended by Swedish Ambassador to Serbia Annika Ben David.
He said the project was expected to provide 1.2 TWh of power a year and that construction works were slated for completion in 2028, the Finance Ministry said in a statement.
