BELGRADE - Serbian PM Milos Vucevic met with North Macedonian Interior Minister Panco Toskovski in Belgrade on Friday to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation on security and in other fields of importance to the citizens of the two states, the PM's office said in a statement.
Vucevic said the relations between the two countries were based on traditionally friendly ties between the two peoples and good-neighbourly relations, and added that Serbia was committed to develop partnership ties with North Macedonia and support European integration and regional cooperation.
Vucevic noted the significance of bolstering cooperation on security and in the fight against terrorism and illegal migration as well as in partnerships in emergencies.
Speaking about regional cooperation, Vucevic said an Open Balkan agreement allowing travellers to cross borders only with IDs was an example of good practice that was in the interest of citizens of the two countries.
Vucevic protested North Macedonia's decision to co-sponsor a UN resolution on Srebrenica and noted that the decision and the passage of the resolution did not contribute to peace and stability in the region or stronger cooperation.
Toskovski thanked Serbia for helping to contain this month's forest fires in North Macedonia's Negotino, Konce and Stip municipalities.
Toskovski also spoke with Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic.
