Vucic receives Indonesian president-elect

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received Indonesia's President-elect and incumbent Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto on Monday, noting that Serbia was interested in further strengthening of political dialogue as well as in developing and encouraging economic cooperation and cooperation in all fields of mutual importance.

"With President-elect of the Republic of Indonesia and the country's incumbent Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto, I discussed paths of further development of our traditionally friendly relations as well as strengthening of overall cooperation between Serbia and Indonesia. This visit gives an important impetus to further advancement of the close relations and cooperation between our countries," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram account.

Vucic expressed special gratitude to Indonesia for its principled and consistent support for the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia, also reflected in Indonesia's support in international organisations, "as well as for the support it has given us in the decision-making process within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations regarding our request to accede to the Friendship Agreement with a view to strengthening further the political relations and overall cooperation with ASEAN members."

He wholeheartedly congratulated Subianto on his election as president.

"I am deeply convinced that, under his leadership, friendly Indonesia will achieve new great success on the path of overall progress and prosperity," Vucic added.
