VRBAS - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday evening Pristina wanted to seize an opportunity to provoke clashes in Kosovo-Metohija before the US elections in order to drag Serbia into a conflict with NATO.

"You should have no doubt that is one of their goals and their main objective. Because they know that, after December, there will be a question of how they can react and to what extent they can provoke things," Vucic told the RTS in Vrbas, northern Serbia, where he visited a soon-to-be-completed new railway station.

Vucic was commenting on Pristina's announcement that it would open a bridge on the Ibar River in Kosovska Mitrovica.

He added that Pristina was not interested in dialogue and that it was clear to it that the global situation was accelerating processes it had thought would be only limited in effect.

"You have seen the very strong, clear and unequivocal warning by (former US special envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Richard) Grenell, who will definitely be a very close aide to potential future (US) President (Donald) Trump. But even if that does not happen, I am not sure that even the present or any potential future Democrat government in the US wants to put up with such behaviour and tolerate it for a long time," Vucic said.

He reiterated there would be no pogrom against Kosovo-Metohija Serbs.
