NEW YORK - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with Georgian FM Ilia Darchiashvili in New York, noting that, besides being traditionally friendly, Serbia-Georgia relations were making continuous progress.

Djuric underscored that exchanging high- and top-level visits would lend an additional impetus to strengthening the relations further, the Serbian MFA said in a statement.

Djuric noted the two countries would next year mark the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations and said Serbia was ready to commemorate the occasion.

He thanked Georgia for its principled and consistent position of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called "Kosovo" and underlined that Serbia provided full and unreserved support for the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.

He said Serbia was committed to expanding bilateral economic cooperation with Georgia, especially in tourism, transport, innovation and creative industries, and that launching direct flights between Belgrade and Tbilisi would greatly help economic development in both countries and contribute to closer ties between the two nations.
