BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after a meeting with Hungarian Parliament Speaker Laszlo Kover on Wednesday Serbia-Hungary relations were based on brotherly ties and mutual trust and respect, setting an example for successful cooperation and cherishing a tradition of neighbourly ties, which he noted was of great importance for stability and prosperity in the region.
In an Instagram post, Vucic noted that the discussions with Kover had addressed strengthening of bilateral cooperation in various areas, highlighting the importance of joint projects contributing to infrastructure development and advancement of living standards in both countries.
"We noted the importance of parliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Hungary as one of the main links in the strengthening of joint interests that is not only contributing to development of our overall relations but also boosting stability and security across this part of Europe," Vucic wrote.
He said ethnic Serbs living in Hungary and ethnic Hungarians in Serbia had a crucial role in strengthening the unbreakable ties between the two countries.
"I noted Serbia's sincere commitment to continue to work even more on protecting the rights and preserving the cultural identity of Hungarians in Serbia," he added.
