BELGRADE - The relations between Serbia and Czechia have reached the highest point of development in recent history thanks to, above all, mutual understanding, trust and a committed strengthening of the partnership, Serbian PM Milos Vucevic said at a meeting with Czech FM Jan Lipavsky in Belgrade on Friday.

Vucevic and Lipavsky discussed bilateral relations, advancement of cooperation and regional issues for the two countries, the PM's office said in a statement.

Vucevic said Lipavsky's visit to Belgrade represented "a new page" in the traditionally good relations.

He said Serbia's investment climate had been greatly improved in recent years and that the country was now one of the most attractive Western Balkan states to invest in.

He urged Czech companies to invest in Serbia.

He said the potential for strengthening the economic cooperation, based on a traditional friendship and close ties between the two nations, was in the energy sector, in sustainable development and in infrastructure projects.

He invited Czech companies to become partners at EXPO 2027, which he said was a chance to position Serbia as a land of opportunity.

Vucevic raised concerns over the situation in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija and activities by Albin Kurti and the Pristina administration against the Serb population in the province.

Dialogue is the only way to reach a sustainable solution to the Kosovo-Metohija issue, Vucevic said, adding that Pristina must be put under international pressure to continue the dialogue with Belgrade and stop terrorising the Serbs.

He noted that preserving peace and stability in the region was Serbia's objective.

Vucevic thanked Czechia for providing strong and continued support to Serbia at the highest political level in the EU integration process, as well as for its persevering stance regarding the necessity of EU enlargement.

Lipavsky said the traditionally good cooperation between the two countries could be advanced further in the economy and in the energy sector.

He noted that his country supported a continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and added that dialogue was the only way to reach a mutually acceptable solution.
