BELGRADE - The Slovak government's position of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo is unchangeable, clear and formulated in a declaration adopted by Slovakia's National Council in 2007, says Slovak FM Juraj Blanar.
Blanar, who is visiting Belgrade on Friday, told Politika in an interview that Slovakia, like dozens of other states, did not recognise Pristina's unilateral declaration of independence as it was a violation of international law and the territorial integrity of Serbia.
"Serbia has our full support on this issue. However, current developments in Kosovo, especially in the north, are what needs urgent attention," Blanar said.
Developments from the past weeks are contrary to agreements that are in place and raise questions about the international community's double standards, which need to be addressed constructively, but openly, he noted.
"I think that, today, there is no doubt who is largely responsible for such developments," Blanar said, noting that Slovakia supported the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
