BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien and Managing Director for Europe at the EU External Action Service Angelina Eichhorst on Monday, raising deep concerns over challenges faced by Serbs in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija on a daily basis.

"An excellent meeting with James O'Brien and Angelina Eichhorst, focusing on the political situation in the region, the current situation in Kosovo-Metohija and strengthening of cooperation in numerous areas. We also exchanged views on Serbia's role in the Western Balkans and in Europe," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram profile.

He added that he had informed O'Brien and Eichhorst in detail of the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.

"I noted the need for greater US engagement on this issue as stronger support and more active US involvement could contribute to stability and security in the region. I reiterated Serbia's commitment to EU integration and reforms required for advancement of cooperation with the EU, but I also noted that the entire region needs a stable and predictable future, with clear messages from the Union about enlargement," Vucic said.

He added that he had also noted Serbia's enormous progress in all spheres of the economy, also confirmed in the top international circles with the investment-grade credit rating given to Serbia.

"I expressed readiness that we seek solutions together for sustainable and lasting stability and prosperity of the Western Balkans, as well as the hope that the dynamics of dialogue and regional cooperation will be continued with US and EU support," Vucic wrote in the post.
