RABAT - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said on Wednesday in Rabat Serbia and Morocco had been cherishing a friendship since the Non-Aligned Movement and that her meeting with Moroccan House of Representatives Speaker Rashid Talibi Al-Alami had addressed cooperation in the economy, business, AI and education.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Brnabic said she was grateful to Morocco for its clear stance on the territorial integrity of Serbia and the Autonomous Province of Kosovo- Metohija as an integral part of the Republic of Serbia.

She said she had also asked for support for Serbia's bid to join the Francophonie as a full-fledged member.

Brnabic said she would have several important meetings with Moroccan officials during her first-ever visit to the country.

"Serbia and our parliament have an idea about how to continue to strengthen the traditional and very friendly relations between the two countries," Brnabic said.

She said trade cooperation was growing constantly and was on par with the good and friendly bilateral relations dating back from the era of the Non-Aligned Movement.

"My desire was to begin discussions here in Morocco about the start of talks on a FTA between Serbia and the Kingdom of Morocco. I believe that concluding a FTA would mean much and lead to very dynamic development of our economic cooperation. I know our two governments have discussed the signing of a MoU on cooperation in digitalisation and between the relevant ministries, and I hope the memorandum will be signed soon," Brnabic said.

She said cooperation in the field of AI had also been discussed with El Alami.

"Serbia chairs the Global Partnership for Artificial intelligence and next year, in 2025, there will be many opportunities to work together and promote both our countries in that regard," she added.

Brnabic also said Serbia was deeply committed to further development of friendships and partnerships with various African countries and noted that Morocco was a true friend of Serbia.
