BELGRADE - Serbia-Angola bilateral relations are extremely good and based on mutual respect, and there is readiness to advance them further by exchanging visits at high and the highest level, Serbian FM Ivica Dacic said at a meeting with a delegation of the Angolan Ministry of External Relations on Friday.

Dacic again thanked Angola for its principled stance of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, which he said reaffirmed a commitment to the fundamental principles of international law.

The Angolan delegation, headed by State Secretary for International Cooperation Domingos Lopes, is in Belgrade for the first-ever bilateral political consultations between the two ministries.

Dacic presented to Lopes an inter-governmental protocol on succession of five bilateral agreements signed between the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the People's Republic of Angola, and noted that the move reconfirmed the decades-long cooperation and lent it a new impetus.

Lopes said he was pleased to have an opportunity to visit Belgrade, the birthplace of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Thanking Dacic for the warm welcome, he said Angola and Serbia were connected by traditional friendship based on the principles of togetherness, mutual understanding and support as well as cooperation and solidarity.

The parties expressed interest in further strengthening of economic cooperation, as well as cooperation in specific fields such as agriculture, health care, defence, IT and education.
