Dacic holds bilateral meetings on UNGA sidelines

NEW YORK - On the third day of a visit to New York, Serbian First Deputy PM and FM Ivica Dacic held bilateral meetings with the FMs of Equatorial Guinea, Mongolia, Panama, Azerbaijan, Somalia, East Timor and Greece and the UNOPS executive director on the sidelines of the 78th UN General Assembly session.
Dacic and his collocutors reviewed possibilities for further strengthening of bilateral political cooperation and cooperation and in other areas such as the economy, culture, education and agriculture, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Thursday.
At the meeting with Mongolian FM Battsetseg Batmunkh, Dacic said bilateral relations were good and traditionally friendly, and noted an interest in stepping up political dialogue.
At the meeting with Equatorial Guinea's FM Simeon Oyono Esono Angue, Dacic noted Serbia's firm commitment to deepen overall cooperation and expressed gratitude for the support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia.
With Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov, Dacic discussed bilateral relations, economic cooperation and other forms of mutually beneficial cooperation.
At the meeting with Panamanian FM Janaina Tewaney Mencomo, Dacic said he believed mutually beneficial cooperation could be established in many areas.
At the meeting with Somali FM Abshir Omar Jama, Dacic noted that he hoped bilateral economic cooperation would be intensified as it held significant but as yet untapped potential.
Dacic and East Timor's FM Bendito dos Santos Freitas discussed advancement of political dialogue with a view to contributing to better understanding and further development of overall bilateral cooperation.
Dacic told his Greek counterpart George Gerapetritis that Serbia viewed the historical closeness between the Serbs and Greeks as the foundation of multi-faceted bilateral cooperation.
At the meeting with UNOPS Executive Director Jorge Moreira da Silva, Dacic expressed the expectation that successful cooperation and implementation of concrete development projects with UNOPS would be continued in the period to come.
Dacic also had brief meetings with Egyptian FM Sameh Shoukry and Montenegrin PM Dritan Abazovic.
Dacic also attended a working luncheon hosted by Moldova for representatives of Central European Initiative member states.
Dacic noted that Serbia attached special significance to advancement of regional cooperation, especially through participating in regional initiatives, in particular, due to their contribution to building mutual trust, to the reconciliation process and to encouraging overall development.
