Dacic, Docherty note significance of strengthening of Belgrade-Pristina dialogue

BELGRADE - Serbian First Deputy PM and FM Ivica Dacic and the UK's Minister for Europe Leo Docherty noted on Wednesday the significance of further strengthening of Belgrade-Pristina dialogue at high and the highest level.

During a meeting in Belgrade, the parties agreed that constructive continuation of dialogue was key to regional stability and security, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Dacic informed Docherty of the most recent developments in Kosovo-Metohija and a necessity to protect the Serb population, and expressed Belgrade's willingness to invest efforts with a view to a de-escalation of tensions.

Dacic noted Serbia's commitment to development of regional cooperation and added that preservation of peace and stability remained one of Serbia's fundamental priorities.

Docherty said he was especially pleased to have the opportunity to visit Belgrade again and speak with Dacic.

The parties agreed there was space for advancement of cooperation in various areas, especially in the economy, energy and digitalisation.
