BELGRADE - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic met with new Finnish Ambassador to Belgrade Niklas Lindqvist on Friday.

Brnabic said bilateral relations were good but that there was ample space to advance them further, especially when it comes to exchanging high-level visits.

Finland being a very successful supporter of high-tech companies and innovations, as well as a country with a well-developed startup ecosystem, the parties agreed that cooperation would chiefly focus on boosting the services trade, education, digitalisation and development of artificial intelligence, where Serbia is achieving very good results, the Serbian government said in a statement.

Lindqvist expressed interest in stepping up of high-level and working visits, especially as bilateral trade between the two countries is rising steadily and continuously and because there is space to advance it.

He said he would like to see direct flights established between the capitals of Serbia and Finland and added that the move would lend an exceptional impetus to deepening the economic cooperation.

Brnabic informed the ambassador of the very difficult situation in Kosovo-Metohija, voicing grave concern over the security of Serbs and other non-Albanians in Serbia's southern province, the statement said.
