BELGRADE - Serbian FM Ivica Dacic said on Thursday a statement by UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron that the UK would help the so-called Kosovo gain new recognitions was utterly hypocritical and deserved the strongest condemnation.
"He (Cameron) did not say a single word about Albin Kurti and the so-called Kosovo refusing, for 11 years now, to implement the Brussels Agreement, signed and guaranteed on behalf of the EU by Briton Catherine Ashton, among others," Dacic said in a statement to Tanjug.
"He did not say a single word about the terror and the forced expulsion of more than 200,000 Serbs and the destruction of medieval Serbian Christian churches and monasteries," he added, noting that Cameron was pledging assistance to the so-called Kosovo with "new recognitions and admission to international institutions."
Dacic noted that the UK had recognised the so-called Kosovo just a day after its unilateral declaration of independence in 2008 and had been supporting it for 16 years now, but that only 84 UN member states recognised it.
On the other hand, 109 countries are on the side of Serbia, a small but proud country, Dacic said.
He noted that Serbia would continue to be a constructive factor in dialogue but that, no less than any other country in the world, it had the right to safeguard its national and state interests and its territorial integrity.
