BELGRADE - The signature on the Brussels Agreement is binding to Serbia, while the unsigned so-called Ohrid Agreement is not in the least so, former Security Information Agency director and Movement of Socialists founder Aleksandar Vulin said on Monday.

Vulin said this in response to a statement by the German government's special Western Balkans envoy Manuel Sarrazin, who has said a start of implementation of the Ohrid Agreement by both sides was crucial to Germany.

"The German government's envoy Manuel Sarrazin believes the so-called Ohrid Agreement must be implemented as a new precondition for Serbia's EU integration. To Sarrazin, the unsigned so-called Ohrid Agreement is crucial, but the signed Brussels Agreement is not," Vulin noted in a statement.

The signature from Brussels is what is binding to Serbia, while the unsigned Ohrid deal is "just as binding to it as the EU's word and signature on the Brussels Agreement are binding to the EU - therefore, not in the least," he added.

The enigma remains of what is binding to Sarrazin and the Kosovo Albanians, since common sense, signatures and their word are not, Vulin noted.

Previously, Sarrazin said Germany was doing everything in its power to ensure progress in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and that Berlin supported the Ohrid Agreement and wanted both sides to start implementing it as soon as possible.

In a statement to the Deutsche Welle Albanian-language news service, Sarrazin said he believed this was crucial.
