BELGRADE - Serbian PM Milos Vucevic said on Wednesday Serbia was firmly committed to peace and would do everything to protect it.
In a statement after a session of the expanded Collegium of the Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff, also attended by President of Serbia and Serbian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Aleksandar Vucic, Vucevic said the session had been held to analyse the state and the level of equipment of the armed forces, the situation in the region and worldwide and security threats.
"Our state is firmly committed to peace and we will do everything to protect it. In the past years, the Serbian Armed Forces have significantly advanced their operational capabilities and their strengthening will be continued through purchases of leading-edge arms and equipment and by investing in personnel and training for Serbian Armed Forces troops. We will also continue to invest in defence industry factories and institutes," Vucevic wrote in post on his Instagram account.
He added that many tasks were ahead of Serbia but that he believed the Serbian Armed Forces would become even stronger and be the source of pride for all Serbian citizens, protecting national security, sovereignty and independence.
"A strong army is a guarantor of peace for Serbia!," Vucevic noted.
