BELGRADE - Chinese Ambassador to Belgrade Li Ming said on Thursday China and Serbia must together safeguard the international system with the UN at its core and the international order based on international law.
"China and Serbia should join hands together to uphold the principle of non-interference and jointly oppose any imposition of one's own will on others," Li said at a roundtable discussion titled Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, hosted by the Belgrade Institute of International Politics and Economics.
"We should advocate equal and orderly international order and ensure all countries in the world can find their own positions in the multilateral system. China and Serbia will continue to be the promoters of world peace and development," the ambassador said.
"(Serbian) President (Aleksandar) Vucic once pointed out that the most important Serbian interest is the preservation of peace. We will continue to fully uphold the international system under the guidance of the UN Charter and adhere to international law.
The past and the present have enlightened us that all countries must shoulder their common responsibility for peace and be committed to a path of peaceful development," he said.
"We should work together to seek peace, safeguard peace and enjoy peace. In today's world, all countries are interdependent. There is no absolute security, there is no exclusive security. China and Serbia will continue to firmly support each other's major core interests, advocate a common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable concept of security," he noted.
