Roof overhang collapse kills eight people in Novi Sad

NOVI SAD - Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said on Friday a roof overhang collapse at the old railway station building in Novi Sad had killed eight people.

Dacic said two other people had been hospitalised and that one of them was in serious condition with an amputated leg.

The minister said rescue teams were in contact with two people trapped underneath the ruins and that efforts were underway to get them out alive.

Serbian PM Milos Vucevic said this was one of the most difficult days in the post-war history of Novi Sad and a tragedy for entire Serbia and that he would insist on accountability for the accident.
